British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the loss of his two dear friends.”
