NFL Recap: Broncos Edge Struggling Jets in Low-Scoring Affair
In a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Broncos managed to secure a close win over the struggling New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and kicker Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning decisive three-pointer to seal the hard-fought win.
Dominant Performance Wins Contest
Even with recording nine sacks against Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 after conceding a two-point play in the second half. Remarkably, the Jets managed a mere 82 offensive yards during the contest.
Nix, who went 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard drive that ended with Lutz's short field goal with approximately five minutes left.
Historic Struggles for Jets Offense
In spite of their horrendous performance, the Jets maintained possession with a chance to score a potential winning score. However Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion instead of calling on kicker Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.
Fields had difficulties throughout, connecting on just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets finished with negative ten net yards passing, the fewest in any contest since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," Glenn stated following the game.
