Every organization head will tell you running a major entity is never a typical workday.

Newly appointed Women's Tennis Association (WTA) leader Valerie Camillo is familiar with working around the clock from past positions - including one as a board member for a tourism firm which runs American country music superstar Dolly Parton's theme parks.

As well as the expertise into Parton's portfolio, Camillo takes over the leadership of women's tennis with a wealth of experience in sports and media, having held strategic positions at the top professional basketball organization, major league hockey and America's pastime.

Camillo will begin her leadership position at the WTA this November, taking over from the outgoing Steve Simon, after his lengthy leadership concludes with his retirement.

The prospect for combining financial operations together with ATP is still being negotiated, as both organizations clearly seeing the need for greater alignment concerning television, data and sponsorship deals.

The existing separated structure often causes supporters and backers perplexed and frustrated.

Notably, the administration of professional tennis faced opposition in a lawsuit by athlete representatives, raising concerns about both organizations overlooking competitor needs.

The organization recognizes the obvious advantage of partnering with the wealthier men's tour, however the incoming leader seeks to prevent the WTA from losing its voice in key negotiations and promotional activities as a result.

Listening to concerns about scheduling and player burnout will also be among top priorities.

With her role meaning she leads both competitors and competitions, she will have to listen to the needs from all sides and find equilibrium increasing income and athlete welfare producing those earnings.

"In women's competitions, investment, audiences and media engagement grow rapidly.

"Generally obstacles for women's competitions is building awareness, drawing supporters and viewership," added Camillo.

"Our situation varies somewhat - having established legacy, with substantial heritage, massive worldwide audience, and some of the most famous, top-compensated female athletes globally."
